Scotland Food & Drink
2014 will be an incredible year in Scotland as the country hosts both the Ryder Cup and Commonwealth Games. Scotland’s excellent food and drink will be central to events across the year and Showcasing Scotland offers you the opportunity to meet producers and hear their stories first hand.
Scotland’s larder boasts world-class products of the highest quality and provenance and there are ambitious plans to grow the market at home and overseas. Scottish companies enjoy an excellent global reputation as successful producers of both branded and private label products to many market leading retailers and foodservice operators in the UK, Europe and beyond.
Tailored to both retail and foodservice businesses, the event will take place over two days in the form of individual Meet the Buyer sessions with suppliers, in-market sector visits, networking opportunity with UK and international buyers as well as a mini-conference and seminar which will inform on the strengths of the dynamic Scottish food and drink industry. Categories which will be represented at the event include seafood and salmon; alcoholic and soft drinks; bakery; premium grocery; dairy and red meat.
Thanks to Scotland’s dynamic workforce, access to natural raw materials and pristine natural environments with world-class quality and traceability systems, together with an unyielding focus on innovations and supply chain efficiencies, Scottish companies have what it takes to deliver the finest products. Companies participating in Showcasing Scotland are supported by a programme of activity to perfect their propositions and pitches. Food and drink market development experts are working with companies across a series of workshops, mentoring and personalised one to one support to upskill attendees in the run up to the event.
Showcasing Scotland is run in partnership between Scotland Food & Drink, Scottish Development International, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands & Islands Enterprise and the Scottish Government. An international programme led by Scottish Development International will also take place as part of Showcasing Scotland.
Scotland Food & Drink’s Access to Markets Manager Stephanie Pritchard commented, “Scotland Food & Drink work closely with retail and foodservice businesses to cultivate opportunities for the industry and the UK is a key focus of this work.
